Us is more than the sum of you and me
transcending our faults in forgetting
reminding us that in even the unlovable
in ourselves is not reason to back down
the mountains are for climbing
the onrush of waves to be braved

there is always, always room for forgiving
amid silences meant to be endured
these are not empty promises we keep
as every day we go on, go on, to be
more than our individual selves
into this union of forever is Us
